This meant that the only way to switch between running applications was Alt-tab or the task manager.<br /><br />This is what is commonly refer to over the Internet as "Minimized Programs Missing". While I do not know the cause of the problem, the fix is freely available and exceedingly easy to use.<br />Just download and run this script and viola!
